Welcome to Lantry! These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Lantry mobile application ("App", "Service", "we", "us", or "our"). By accessing or using Lantry, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: LANTRY IS NOT A MEDICAL SERVICE. THE APP IS DESIGNED FOR GENERAL WELLNESS AND SELF-REFLECTION PURPOSES ONLY AND IS NOT A SUBSTITUTE FOR PROFESSIONAL MEDICAL ADVICE, DIAGNOSIS, OR TREATMENT.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By creating an account or using Lantry, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, you must not use the App.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to use Lantry. By using the App, you represent and warrant that:
- You are at least 18 years of age
- You have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms
- You will comply with all applicable laws and regulations
If you are under 18, you may only use Lantry with the involvement and consent of a parent or legal guardian.
3. Description of Service
Lantry is an AI-powered personal journal that provides:
- AI Conversations: Interactive dialogue with an AI assistant for self-reflection
- Reflection Insights: Analysis of personal patterns and journaling trends based on your conversations
- Goal Tracking: Tools to set and monitor personal development goals
- Journaling: Digital space for recording thoughts and experiences
3.1 AI Technology
Lantry uses artificial intelligence (including OpenAI's GPT models) to generate responses and insights. While we strive for accuracy and helpfulness:
- AI responses are generated automatically and may contain errors
- AI cannot replace human judgment, professional advice, or therapy
- You should verify important information independently
- AI responses are based on patterns in training data and your inputs
4. User Accounts
4.1 Account Creation
To use Lantry, you must create an account using:
- Email and password
- Apple Sign-In
- Google Sign-In
4.2 Account Security
You are responsible for:
- Maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials
- All activities that occur under your account
- Notifying us immediately of any unauthorized access
4.3 Account Termination
You may delete your account at any time through the App settings. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
5. Subscription & Payment
5.1 Free Trial
New users receive a 3-day free trial of Premium features. You will not be charged during the trial period. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, you will automatically be charged for a subscription.
5.2 Premium Subscription
Premium subscriptions unlock:
- Unlimited AI conversations
- Advanced wellness insights and analytics
- Goal tracking and micro-goals features
- Priority support
Pricing: $9.49 - $13.99 USD per month (varies by region and platform)
5.3 Billing
- Subscriptions are billed monthly through Apple App Store or Google Play Store
- Payment is charged to your App Store or Google Play account at confirmation of purchase
- Subscriptions automatically renew unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period
- Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period
- You can manage subscriptions and turn off auto-renewal in your App Store or Google Play account settings
5.4 Cancellation
- You may cancel your subscription at any time through your App Store or Google Play account settings
- Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period
- No refunds are provided for partial months or unused portions of the subscription
- You will retain access to Premium features until the end of your current billing period
5.5 Refunds
Refund requests are handled according to Apple App Store and Google Play Store refund policies. Contact Apple or Google directly for refund requests. We do not process refunds directly.
5.6 Free Features
Free users have access to:
- Up to 15 AI conversations per day
- Basic wellness tracking
- Limited insights and analytics
6. User Content
6.1 Your Content
You retain ownership of all content you create in Lantry, including:
- Chat messages and conversations
- Journal entries
- Goals and reflections
- Personal data
6.2 License to Us
By submitting content, you grant Lantry a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide license to:
- Store and process your content to provide the Service
- Use anonymized and aggregated data to improve AI models and features
- Generate insights and analytics based on your content
6.3 Content Responsibility
You are solely responsible for your content. You agree not to submit content that:
- Violates laws or regulations
- Infringes on others' intellectual property rights
- Contains malicious code or viruses
- Harasses, threatens, or harms others
- Promotes violence or illegal activities
7. Prohibited Conduct
You agree not to:
- Use the App for any illegal purpose
- Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or hack the App
- Use automated tools (bots, scrapers) to access the App
- Share your account credentials with others
- Impersonate others or provide false information
- Interfere with the App's operation or security
- Use the App to harm yourself or others
8. Disclaimers
8.1 Not Medical Advice
LANTRY IS NOT A SUBSTITUTE FOR PROFESSIONAL MEDICAL CARE.
The App:
- Does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment
- Is not intended for crisis intervention or emergency situations
- Cannot replace licensed healthcare professionals
- Should not be used as the sole basis for medical decisions
If you are experiencing a personal crisis, please:
- Call emergency services (911 in the US, 112 in EU)
- Contact a crisis hotline (988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline in the US)
- Visit your nearest emergency room
- Reach out to a licensed healthcare professional
8.2 No Warranties
THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
- Warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose
- Warranties of accuracy, reliability, or completeness of AI-generated content
- Warranties of uninterrupted or error-free service
8.3 Third-Party Services
Lantry integrates with third-party services (OpenAI, Firebase, Adapty, Supabase). We are not responsible for:
- The availability or functionality of third-party services
- Changes to third-party terms or policies
- Data practices of third-party services (see Privacy Policy)
9. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW:
WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR:
- Indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages
- Loss of profits, data, or business opportunities
- Damages arising from your use or inability to use the App
- Damages resulting from AI-generated content or advice
- Damages from unauthorized access to your account
TOTAL LIABILITY CAP:
Our total liability for any claims arising from these Terms or the App shall not exceed the amount you paid to Lantry in the 12 months preceding the claim, or $100 USD, whichever is greater.
10. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Lantry, its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including legal fees) arising from:
- Your use of the App
- Your violation of these Terms
- Your violation of others' rights
- Your content or submissions
11. Intellectual Property
11.1 Our Ownership
Lantry owns all rights to:
- The App's design, code, and functionality
- Lantry branding, logos, and trademarks
- Original content created by Lantry
- AI models and algorithms (excluding third-party models)
11.2 Restrictions
You may not:
- Copy, modify, or create derivative works of the App
- Use Lantry's trademarks without written permission
- Remove copyright or proprietary notices
- Reverse engineer or extract source code
12. Privacy & Data Protection
Your privacy is important to us. Please review our Privacy Policy to understand how we collect, use, and protect your data.
Key Points:
- We use industry-standard encryption to protect your data
- Your conversations are processed by AI (OpenAI GPT models)
- We comply with GDPR (EU) and CCPA (California)
- You have rights to access, correct, and delete your data
13. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do:
- We will update the "Last Updated" date at the top
- We will notify you via email or in-app notification
- Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance
- Material changes will be highlighted in the notification
You should review these Terms periodically. If you disagree with changes, you must stop using the App.
14. Termination
14.1 By You
You may terminate your account at any time by:
Upon termination:
- Your subscription will be cancelled
- Your data will be deleted according to our Privacy Policy
- You will lose access to all Premium features
14.2 By Us
We may suspend or terminate your account if:
- You violate these Terms
- You engage in fraudulent or illegal activities
- Your account is inactive for an extended period
- Required by law or legal process
15. Governing Law & Disputes
15.1 Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.
15.2 Dispute Resolution
Informal Resolution: Before filing a claim, you agree to contact us at support@lantry.app to attempt to resolve the dispute informally.
Arbitration Agreement:
- Any disputes will be resolved through binding arbitration rather than in court
- Arbitration will be conducted by the American Arbitration Association (AAA)
- You waive your right to a jury trial or to participate in class actions
- Arbitration decisions are final and binding
Exceptions:
- Small claims court disputes (under $10,000)
- Intellectual property disputes
- Injunctive relief for urgent matters
15.3 Jurisdiction
If arbitration does not apply, you consent to the exclusive jurisdiction of state and federal courts in Delaware, United States.
16. General Provisions
16.1 Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Lantry.
16.2 Severability
If any provision is found invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect.
16.3 Waiver
Our failure to enforce any right or provision does not constitute a waiver of that right.
16.4 Assignment
You may not assign or transfer these Terms. We may assign our rights to any affiliate or successor.
16.5 Force Majeure
We are not liable for failures or delays caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control (natural disasters, wars, pandemics, etc.).
18. Acknowledgment
BY USING LANTRY, YOU ACKNOWLEDGE THAT YOU HAVE READ, UNDERSTOOD, AND AGREE TO BE BOUND BY THESE TERMS OF SERVICE.
